A shot taken...
A new enemy revealed...

Lynn has been rescued from deep within the heart of a night runner lair. The answer why she was taken remains a mystery. Sandra lies in a pool of her own blood ending her desperate measures to draw Jack to her. As Red Team celebrates their joy of Lynn’s freedom, they are unaware that a sight is centered on them from afar. A bullet tears through the air, streaking their way.

Harold discovers information that stuns the small group of survivors and further threatens their fragile handhold on existence. They have overcome one challenge only to find that a new, more dangerous one replaces it. There’s more to this new world than Jack ever suspected.

With only a single team at his disposal, Greg is sent to continue the search for survivors. Separated from the group and unable to call for help, the small group must journey along lonely and perilous back roads in the hope of finding family members. In the end, Greg must decide between saving others and the safety of his team. Meanwhile, with the crew anxious to get home, Captain Leonard sails down the western seaboard to search for answers as he struggles to come to grips with the world.

The group tries to stay one step ahead but there’s trouble infiltrating from the north. And Michael is stirring from within the depths of his lair.

The winds of change are blowing…

A New World Conspiracy eBook John O'Brien

Disappointing! Tedious! Boring! This book was so confusing and not written in the usual, easy to follow John O'Brien flow. Having read the other O'Brien books I was expecting more, all I got was confusion, poor editing, lack of a good plot and unbelievable characters.

A New World Conspiracy eBook John O'Brien Reviews

Here is yet another example of an author falling into the conspiracy trap. This series had a pretty good thing going but had to cross over into the big bad conspiracy realm. Totally unnecessary. Definitely heading downhill here. Fun while it lasted.
It has a good story that is not the same EMP crisis like many of the others in this type of book, The characters were well developed and believable. The end of the book was like he just stopped writing. If he is doing a series this should be known up front. The lack of an ending ruined an otherwise good book.
It is rare that you find a book series that keeps you interested after so many books but I find that this one definitely keeps me entertained and wishing the books were twice as long! I also think this would make a fantastic TV series! I look forward to the coming books and the continuance of the series, I also look forward to hearing more about the sub...I find myself enjoying their story-line the more I read! Since reading these books I have gotten my father and some friends to begin reading the series and they all enjoy reading it as well.

Some things I wondered about while reading...

- Why not have Mark 19's on the perimeter instead of .50's, or both, seems the Mark 19's would do much more against a horde of Night runners than a .50 and should be available in the bases armory.

- Why not have drive up fighting positions for the Strykers and Humvee's, they would be easy to construct and it seems you could benefit from the thermal cameras on the weapons system and having an observation point protected from snipers. They could also begin defending if a horde comes while the others take position.

- The search for and acquisition of two or three M1 Abrams would be beneficial, not necessarily for its offensive power but defensive as you could use it to crush large hordes of Night runners under its tracks without the fear of them gaining entry into the tank. This would also help mitigate the threat of a large enough horde creating a human bridge over the walls. This could be accomplished by driving in circles around the perimeter and pushing/crushing large numbers of Night runners. And if it breaks down you just wait until dawn and climb out. The only limitation would be servicing the beast and how far away they could be found as they weigh too much to be flown.

Keep up the awesome work and I look forward to the next book in the series!
If you're looking for another zom-pocolypse, this isn't it! Thank GOD!! John Obrien has created a world that has you hooked from the beginning. Like I said, this is not a Zombie series but the creatures his imagination has created in this terrifying new apocalyptic world are just as dangerous and then some. Out numbered a thousand to one, the protagonist Jack Walker and the group of military and civilians he has gathered together in a Cabala's Sporting Good have carved out a sanctuary with the idea of finding more humans and hopefully reunite and rebuild what is left of the human race, but with the Night Runners increasing in number and humans as their main food source, the battle for survival is usually intense.(Spoiler Alert!)If you have yet to read the previous books, don't go any further.. After getting Lynn back Jack is wholly unprepared for the attempt on his life and discovers a new enemy that is far deadlier than the Night Runners since he appears to be the specific target. The loss of a beloved member of the team, the betrayal of another leaves him with little answers and a desperation that threaten to tear the group apart. That is until his resident Nerd and Conspiracy Theorist tells him what is really going on and it is chilling and so far out there, considering the situation the world is now in, very possibly true.

The new enemy and her group find Jack Walker and his group a threat to their existence and the plans they have in store for THE NEW WORLD. Jack must find out who this group is and fast because they seem to know more about him and his operations than he knows about them. Reaching out to the Capt. Leonard of the USS Santa Fe Nuclear Sub with a warning little knowing Leonard has already met the enemy and thanks to his instincts, has decided to steer clear of them until he learns more but is also willing to join forces with Jack if necessary as soon as his own mission is complete.

John Obrien has woven a masterpiece of suspense in this latest installment of the series with more and more of the human side coming to the fore. The Night Runners are there but they have taken a back seat to the different faces of humanity, good and bad, met by not only John and his group but the teams out looking for family members and survivors and does not disappoint and as always leaves you wanting more.
I have enjoyed the series but it is time to bring it to a close. Good new story line but again, we are reaching a time to wind this story down !
